The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved the expansion of Dipka Opencast Expansion Project of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). It seeks to raise the coal output from 10 million tonnes per year to 20 million tonnes per year at a capital investment of Rs. 1268.53 crores and completion cost of Rs. 1461.80 crores .
The project will produce 20 million tonnes of coal of grade-F every year. Coal produced will be supplied to the linked customers to meet the demand of Korba Coalfield.
The South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) is a subsidiary company of Coal India Limited (CIL) with its headquarters situated at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. At present, SECL has 86 operating coal mines in Korba, Raigarh and Central India Coalfields of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh with an annual capacity of 75.62 million tonnes per year.
