The total production of Aluminium metal in the country during the first quarter of this fiscal has been estimated at 2,27,641 tonnes as against 2,02,086 tonnes during the same period last year. Out of this, the public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) produced 87,464 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government equity 24,724 tonnes. The private sector Hindalco Industries Limited (HINDALCO) produced 1,06,081 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Limited (MALCO) 9,372 tonnes.
In June 2005, the total production of Aluminium in the country was 75,345 tonnes, out of which NALCO produced 28,789 tonnes, BALCO 8,603 tonnes, HINDALCO 34,872 tonnes and MALCO 3,081 tonnes.
