The National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement for the year 2004 has been announced. 27 children have been selected for this award.
Master Amanjot Singh of Jaipur, Rajasthan has been selected for Gold Medal for his exceptional achievement in the field of Golf (sports). 25 other children have been selected for silver medals for their outstanding performances in different disciplines like education, sports, creative arts etc. Out of 27 award winning children, 8 are girls from Assam, Andaman & Nicobar, Goa, Haryana, Meghalaya, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The names of the award winning children were finalized by the National Selection committee under the chairpersonship of Smt. Kanti Singh, Minister of State for Human Resource Development.
The 26 children selected for silver medals are : Miss Farheen Ahmed, Assam (Computer); Miss Jinu Alex, Andaman & Nicobar (academic and cultural activities and dance & theatre); Master T. Sourya, Andhra Pradesh (Magic); Master Sunny Kumar, Bihar (sports & cultural activities); Master Saket Dubey,Chhattisgarh (sports-swimming); Master Ananat Vidur Puri, Chandigars, U.T (academics, sports & extra curricular activities); Master Akash Kapoor, Delhi (computer & academics); Master Hemendra Chhetri, Gujarat (sports & extra curricular activities); Miss Stefi Cardozo, Goa (sports-athletic); Miss Arti Yadav, Haryana (sports-athletic), Master Sharath, Karnataka (sports); Master Rajmohan, Kerala (poetry writing); Miss Zareen Nongrum, Meghalaya (music);
Master Aashay Chandrashekhar Meshram, Maharashtra (painting); Master H. Laltanpuia, Mizoram (sports-football); Kumari Sania Garg, Madhya Pradesh (dance-kathak, folk & semi classical); Master Varun Mahapatra, Orissa (martial arts); Master R. Thamizh Malar, Pondicherry (yoga, roller skating, art & other activities); Miss Minakshi Garg, Rajasthan (sports-judo & wrestling); Master R. Kashyap Mahesh, Tamil Nadu (performing art-vocal singing & painting), Master Anoop Shailani, Uttaranchal (cultural-tabla vadan); Master Ashish Behera, Uttar Pradesh (arts-painting); Master Ashikul Islam, West Bengal (film direction); Master Shaifukul Mondal (Islam), West Bengal (video/film photography) and Master Akrit Pran Jaiswal, Himachal Pradesh (science,medical research).
Master Ashikul Islam and Master Shaifukul Mondal(Islam) of West Bengal will share the award money for their exceptional talent in the field of film direction and film/video photography respectively.
The Gold Medal Award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/-, a citation and certificate and a gold medal. The silver medal award carries a prize of Rs. 10,000/-, a citation and a certificate and a silver medal for each awardee.
The National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement was instituted in 1996 to give recognition to children with exceptional abilities in various fields including academics, arts, culture and sports etc.
