The estimated production of fertilizers during May, 2005 was 17.17 lakh MT of urea and 2.98 lakh MT of DAP as against the target of 16.22 lakh MT and 5.54 lakh MT respectively.
Urea production during May, 2005 could have been still better but for the continued shut down of Duncan Industries Limited, Kanpur owing to Financial crunch, delay in commissioning of Namrup-II Plant of Brahamputra Valley Fertilizers Corporation Limited, Natural Gas limitation in RCF- Thal and equipment related problems in IFFCO-Plulpur-I and BVFCL- Namrup-III. Availability of urea was satisfactory in all the States.
DAP production during the month was 2.98 lakh MT as against the target of 5.5 lakh MT, which was about 53.8 per cent of the target. This short fall in production of DAP was mainly due to limitation of raw material availability and DAP plant of OCFL-Paradeep Plant remaining under unscheduled shut down.
However, the overall availability of urea in other decontrolled fertilizers in the States has been satisfactory.
During May 2005, 16.86 lakh MT of urea was dispatched to the States against the target of 15.48 lakh MT. Cumulative availability of urea during the Kharif season has been 39 lakh MT which was satisfactory in all the States.
Further, the sale of urea during Kharif 2005 up to 31.5.05 was 16.5 lakh MT which was higher by about 33.69 per cent as compared to the sale of 12.38 lakh MT in the corresponding period of the previous year.
As regards to decontrolled fertilizers, cumulative availability of DAP and MOP during the current Kharif season i.e. by end of May 2005 has been about 11.72 lakh MT and 11.07 lakh MT respectively which was adequate to meet the demand of the States.
During the Month of May 2005, 0.92 lakh MT of DAP and 4.7 lakh MT of MOP was imported into the country.
