Indian Railways and Government of Orissa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for construction of Haridaspur-Paradip broad gauge link. The MoU provides for implementation of the broad gauge rail link through Special Purpose Vehicle with equity participation by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, Government of Orissa, Paradip Port Trust, M/s Essel Mining & Indus Ltd., M/s Rungta Mines Ltd. and M/s Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. The project is targeted for completion in 2008-09.
This information was given by the Minister of state for Railways Shri R. Velu in written reply to a question raised by Shri B.J. Panda, Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha today.
