Shri Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, Minister for Water Resources will inaugurate a National Workshop on “Challenges for Water Development and Management in India and Future Strategies”, later this week in New Delhi. The Union Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram will also be present on the occasion.
The workshop would aim at developing the future strategy for country assistance particularly with reference to the World Bank assistance programme. The workshop would be consultative in nature and attempt to raise the issues which are relevant for formulating the future strategies for the development and management of water resources.
The other broad areas this two day workshop would deliberate on, includes issues on water resources development; the funding sources in the water sector and projection of the trends in funding besides identifying the initiatives needed for meeting the challenges keeping in view the resource availability and constraints.
