The Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, has expressed grief over the sudden demise of Shri J.N. Dixit. In a letter addressed to Smt. Annapurna Dixit, wife of Shri Dixit, the Vice President described him as an able administrator, an adept diplomat and a respected public figure. Following is the text of the letter:

“I am deeply grieved to learn about the sudden passing away of your revered husband, Shri J.N. Dixit, an outstanding diplomat and scholar.

An able administrator, an adept diplomat and a respected public figure, Shri Dixit served the country in various capacities with distinction. In his long public career, he made important contributions in the field of diplomacy and enhanced the image of the country in the comity of nations. He has left behind a distinct mark with his innate simplicity and keen sense of public service.

My wife joins me in sending our heartfelt condolences to you and the members of the bereaved family and wide circle of his admirers and friends and pray the Almighty to grant them strength and fortitude to withstand this loss. May God grant eternal peace to the departed soul”.
