On the invitation of Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Republic of Korea, the Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru. T. R. Baalu is leaving on a four-day visit to Korea tonight.
The purpose of the visit is to attend the naming ceremony of a newly built Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), that is being added to the fleet of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), at Ulsan, Korea. The three lakh DWT (Dead Weight Tonnage) VLCC has been built by M/s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., Korea at a cost of about US $ 65 million. It is being named m.t. Desh Ujaala.
During his visit, Thiru. Baalu is also scheduled to visit Daewoo and Hala Shipyards.
