The Ministry of Railways has planned to set up new hospitals, one each in Agra Division of North Central Railway and Raipur Division of South East Central Railway.
At present, the Railways have 121 hospitals across the country.
Of the total hospitals, 11 are in Central Railway followed by nine in Eastern Railway, 12 in Northern Railway, seven in North Eastern Railway, 11 in Northeast Frontier Railway, 11 in Southern Railway, five in South Central Railway, six in South Eastern Railway, eight in East Central Railway, four in East Coast Railway, four in North Central Railway, eight in North Western Railway, four in South East Central Railway, four in South Western Railway, seven in West Central Railway and 10 in Western Railway.
The railway hospitals cater to railway employees and people in the surrounding areas. These hospitals also provide critical medical care to distressed passengers in accidents.
