Minister of Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja has launched the website of the Ministry of Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation, here today.

The Website (http://muepa.nic.in/) contains information about the ministry, policies, schemes, legislations, Citizen’s Charter, latest developments and contact details. It also gives information about the various policy initiatives taken by the ministry in the domain of urban infrastructure and basic services like drinking water, sanitation, housing, urban poverty alleviation, etc. It has detailed information about the projects and schemes that have been undertaken for the development of North Eastern States including Sikkim.

The website also gives information about the draft proposals for Second Generation Reforms under Urban Infrastructure Incentive Fund. It also has an icon giving links to National Policy for Urban Street Vendors, Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana (VAMBAY), Disaster Mitigation and Vulnerability Atlas of India, etc.

The web surfers can also access the Annual Reports, performance budget, demand for grants, guidelines of schemes and Parliament questions and answers pertaining to the ministry.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumari Selja said that the ministry has been playing a pro-active role in the policy formulation on housing, habitat and urban poverty alleviation. “Through this website, the ministry proposes to extend its outreach to all stakeholders and public in general, make them aware of the ministry’s policies, programmes and schemes”, she added.

Those who were present on the occasion included Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation, Smt. Chitra Chopra and Joint Secretary Shri Pankaj Jain.
