The Union Cabinet today approved Relief and Rehabilitation Package of Rs.2731.04 crore for Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Out of this, Rs.861.82 crore will be for immediate relief and temporary rehabilitation assistance. This will also include a special package of Rs.1093.71 crore for fishery sector which comprise Rs.454.47 crore subsidy and Rs.639.24 crore loan. In addition, Rs.23.21 crore will be provided for repair and restoration of fishing harbour/landing places. A special package of Rs.752.30 crore has been provided for construction of 1,70,500 houses for the people whose houses have been damaged including the cost of acquisition of land.
