republic day tribal guests, tableaux artistes, nss volunteers and ncc cadets meet the president at rashtrapati bhavan

The tribal guests, tableaux artistes, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers and National Cadet Corp (NCC) cadets and officials who participated in this year’s Republic Day, met the President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The groups presented various tribal dances from different states during a colourful ceremony in the Mughal Gardens.

Speaking to the group the President said he was happy to see so many beautiful dance varieties being presented which reflected the deep cultural traditions of the country. He was especially impressed by the fusion dance and music, which combined the dance forms and music from different parts of the country and truly reflected the theme of unity in diversity. Dr. Kalam told the participants that they were cultural ambassadors for the nation and administered them an oath in Hindi for the service of the nation.

The oath urged the participants to help in transforming India into a developed nation, becoming ideal citizens, to make homes righteous, to excel in studies, to fight corruption, to promote national unity, to be law abiding citizens and to protect the environment.
