“The recipe of success in India may not always be the same as in the West. While being open to outside influences of a positive variety, our strategies of business success have to be rooted in our experience and temperament”. This was stated by Shri Suresh Pachauri, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions at the release function of the Monograph on the Study : “The Indian CEOs – competencies for success”, here today.

The study has rightly focused on concerns such as internal strength and situational leadership for CEOs. It has compared the private sector CEOs with those of that public sector. It has also compared the Indian CEOs with their international counterparts, the Minister added. He said that the study would be useful for our management institutes to develop appropriate curriculum that would help in building a pool of Indian CEOs with required competencies. It would also assist Indian Companies in selecting suitable CEOs well equipped to take their companies to new horizons of success. In today’s competitive world, such knowledge might prove to be a boon for Indian companies to acquire the much needed competitive edge, he concluded.
