The Cabinet today approved for the reconstitution of the National Commission to study the developmental aspects of the Denotified Tribes, Nomadic and Semi Nomadic ‘Tribes’. The Commission will submit its recommendations within a period of one year from the date of appointment of Chairperson. The Commission will consist of a Chairperson, one Member and a Member-Secretary.
The status of the Chairperson shall be equivalent to that of a Minister of State and status of the Member and the Member-Secretary will be equivalent to that of a Secretary to the Government of India.
The National Commission is set up for a limited period of one year. The reconstituted Commission will specify the economic interventions required for raising the living standards by virtue of assets creation and self-employment.
