The President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has greeted his fellow countrymen on the occasion of the festivals of Makara Sankranti and Pongal, which fall on January 14th and January 15th respectively. In his message the President has said, “Makara Sankranti and Pongal are days of great festivity and rejoicing and re-affirmation of friendships and harmony. The festivals also celebrate the harvesting of agriculture produce. These festivals this year could be used by people to help heal people who have been dislocated by the recent tragic events. We should all work to help in any form, those of our brothers and sisters affected by this natural calamity, so as to see a smile on their face again.
On these festive occasions, I extend my greetings to all my people and wish them success, happiness and prosperity”.
