pib launches media centre at nagapattinam

Press Information Bureau, Chennai, has set up a Media Facilitation-cum-Information Centre at Nagapattinam, one of the worst-hit places in the recent Tsunami havoc with the active assistance of the Tamil Nadu Telecom. The Centre which started functioning from December 31, 2004, has the basic minimum facilities for the media persons visiting Nagapattinam for coverage. A multi-media high performance computer with high speed internet connectivity, fax, telephones with STD facility and secretarial assistance are available at the facilitation centre.

Besides providing better communication network, the media facilitation-cum-information centre would also provide latest information on various relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken by various agencies in the area.

For the benefit of the media, the centre has launched a new web page under the PIB Chennai website with the following ID:

Hundreds of digital images on the current situation in the various Tsunami-affected areas of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry are available in this web page which is being updated constantly from the Nagapattinam centre.
