All the Railway Production Units performed well during the eight months of the current fiscal year ending November 2004, with three of them exceeding the targets.
The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) produced 33 electric locomotives against the target of 31, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai 667 coaches against the target of 659 and the Rail Wheel Factory (RWF), Bangalore 76232 wheels against the target of 75669 and 36208 axles against the target of 36039.
The Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala and the Diesel Modernization Works (DMW) just met the targets by rolling out 717 coaches and rebuilding 48 diesel locomotives respectively.
The Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi, however, fell short of the target by three diesel locomotives. It produced 76 diesel locomotives against the target of 79 for the period.
During November 2004, a total of 1737.5 wagons were produced against the target of 1700, exceeding by 37.5 wagons.
