Government of India has constituted an Organizing Committee for the 9th biennial Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) for Documentary, Short and Animation Films to be held in Mumbai from 3rd to 9th February, 2006.

The Committee is headed by Shri Navin Chawla, Secretary (I&B) and consists of 40 other members including officials, representatives of various film Industry Associations and noted documentary and filmmakers and animation experts like Girish Kasaravalli, Ram Mohan and Siddarth Kak.

MIFF is organized by Films Division, Ministry of I&B, Mumbai in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra. Films Division, one of the biggest documentary making units of the world is doing a commendable job by way of producing and showing meaningful films and also by conducting the biennial MIFF.

MIFF has emerged as one of the premier international film events in the world and this has been made possible by the path breaking work done by independent documentary makers who have toiled to bring reality to the silver screen. MIFF provides an opportunity for intense spotlight on documentary cinema to bring the unadulterated truth to the people. The weeklong festival is expected to showcase the best of the documentaries produced all over the world.
