The Press Information Bureau has set up a Media Facilitation-cum-Information Centre at Port Blair to render all necessary assistance to the visiting media persons who intend to cover the devastation and the massive relief efforts mounted in the Tsunami-hit Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Media Centre has started functioning from today providing basic communication infrastructure for the media persons and ensuring authentic and updated information on the relief measures available to them.
The Media Centre at Port Blair is equipped with high performance computers with high speed internet connectivity, fax machine and telephones with STD line. Photographers can avail the facility to edit and transfer the digital images into CDs and floppies. Technical assistance is also being provided to some extent with the help of NIC personnel of Andaman & Nicobar Unit. The Media Centre will work from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on all days.
