The Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL), a public sector unit of the Ministry of Mines, during November, 2004, has carried out 650 meters of mining against a target of 510 meters and 12835 meters drilling against a target of 13600 meters. The Corporation has achieved 4313 meters of mining during the period April to November, 2004, against a target of 4050 meters and 1966 meters during the same period last year. The cumulative drilling by the Corporation up to November has been 101459 meters as against 99063 meters during the same period last year.

The drilling performance this year has been affected due to adverse weather conditions, prevailing law and order situation and want of forest clearance in some areas.
