The Konkan Railway has innovated a portable cleaning kit for cleaning of station premises and coach internally by station house keeping staff.
The cleaning kit contains departmentally designed portable cleaning machines with different type of cleaning brushes, soap solution, power extension chord, one hand brush, gloves and apron for the cleaning staff.
The cleaning machine is weighing 2.3 kilogram and operated by 110 volt DC and 220 volt AC.
Light and handy machine is useful for cleaning of floor and toilet at station area and inside coaches including berths, floor, basins, toilets, side panels, ceiling and glass shutters.
The cleaning machine provides effortless and fatigue free working. It reduces water and soap solution consumption compared to manual cleaning, besides achieving consistency in the cleaning quality by motorized operation with special design of brushes. It also reduces overall cleaning cost due to increase in productivity per person and reduction in consumables.
