The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today approved the Kaniha Opencast Project of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. at a capital investment of Rs.96.18 crore and a completion cost of Rs.106.88 crore. The project will have a target capacity of 3.50 million tons per year which will be achieved in the 4th year of the operation. The project will produce 3.50 million tons of coal of grade F (non-coking).
