The Minister of Communications & Information Technology, Shri Dayanidhi Maran, has said that while the main focus of INDIASOFT continued to be on the small and medium IT companies, INDIASOFT 2005 will mainly focus on the countries from Latin America, CIS, Africa and the ASEAN, the reason being though ASEAN accounted for 428.16 million dollars export the remaining three had only tiny figures. INDIASOFT 2005 to be held in Chennai on 21st and 22nd March 2005 will afford excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs from these countries so as to interact with Indian Software companies and explore possibilities of working out strategic alliance including joint ventures. Shri Maran said this while he was addressing an Interactive Session with the Diplomats/Ambassadors of the participating countries under Hosted Buyers Programme of INDIASOFT 2005, an International IT Exhibition & Conference being organised by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council, every year since 2001. INDIASOFT 2005 at Chennai comprises two components i.e. International Exhibition and Conferences. The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology and the Minister of Commerce and Industry jointly.
Shri Maran further said that during the year 2003-04 exports of electronics and computer software services had touched 14.28 billion dollars showing a growth rate of nearly 33% in dollars. The Minister hoped to achieve the export target of 50 billion US dollars by 2008, if this trend continued.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Brijesh Kumar, Secretary, Department of Information Technology said that Indian IT industry needs to be innovated and has to actively look forward the new markets.
