INDIA TO ASSIST MAURITIUS IN STRENGTHENING AND MODERNISATION OF ITS ANTI CORRUPTION SYSTEM

On the invitation of the Independent Commision Against Corruption,Govt.of Mauritius, the Director of Central Bureau of Investigation, Shri U.S.Misra is heading a four-member delegation to that country to strenghthen its Anti-Corruption Mechanism and Computerisation and Modernisation of its Investigation Division. During the three day visit, the delegation will interact with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Mauritius and share India's vast experience in the field of Anti-Corruption work.

The Commissioner of ICAC, country-region Mauritius Mr.Navin Beekary had visited New Delhi in April, 2003 and November, 2004 last year and interacted with the Central Bureau of Investigation, Central Vigilance Commission and Central Economic Intelligence Bureau. During the discussions, he had suggested for training porogrammes for ICAC investigators at the CBI Academy Ghaziabad (UP) in specialised areas and CBI Investigators visiting Mauritius to impart training to ICAC Investigators, Recruitment of experienced CBI Investigators in the field of Corruption and money laundering on contract basis, besides setting up of a Investigation Division and a CBI Command Centre in Mauritius on the lines of CBI Command Centre.

As a follow up of the visit and on the invitation of the Govt. of Mauritius, the Indian delegation left New Delhi on 16.1.2005. The other members of the delegation are Mrs. Manjulika Gautam, Addl. Secretary, Deptt. of Personnel and Training, Shri Sujeet Banerjee, Secretary, CVC & Shri Rakesh Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance Incharge of Financial Investigation Unit, Ministry of Finance.
