illegal exchange busted in mohali

The Vigilance Telecom Monitoring Cell of Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Punjab Police have busted one illegal telephone exchange which was routing international calls in Mohali, near Chandigarh. The DoT team and the Local Police swung into action as soon as they received a call on the toll free telephone number 1600-110-420 leading to the crack down of the illegal set up which was operating from the Shopping-cum-Office Complex in Phase-7, Mohali owned by one Gurukirpa Enterprise.

The raiding team found the illegal set up was using seven Fixed Wireless Terminal (FWT) of M/s Reliance Infocomm and an Internet line on Radio link from M/s Coijninx, a Service Provider. All the equipment found at site meant for routing the illegal calls like VoIP Gateway (Quintum Make), DSL Router, LAN switch, Radio equipment and phones were seized by the Local Police. The Police have registered a case and are further investigating as to the involvement of other errant partners in India and abroad.
