illegal exchange busted in gurgaon

The Vigilance Telecom Monitoring Cell of Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Delhi Police have busted one illegal telephone exchange which was routing international calls in Gurgaon, an outskirts of Delhi. The DoT team and the Special Cell of Delhi Police swung into action soon after they received a call on the toll free telephone number 1600-110-420 leading to the crack down of the illegal set up which was operating from a residential premises in Gurgaon. The illegal set up in this case was distributing the international call through Internet with the help of DSL connection of 256 Kbps from C-Tel, a Service Provider.

The person involved in this illegal set up has been absconding and the police are on the look out to trace him. However, the police have registered a case FIR No. 14/05 under the relevant sections of Penal Code as well as the Indian Telegraph Act and are further investigating as to the involvement of other errant partners in India and abroad.
