home minister to lead high level delegation to ne region to review internal security and development

Union Home Minister, Shri Shivraj Patil, accompanied by Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal, Minister of State for Home Affairs, senior officials of Ministries of Home Affairs and Development of North Eastern Region would be visiting Tripura, Mizoram and Assam from January 30, 2005 to February 2, 2005.

During the visit to these States, the Union Home Minister would discuss and review specific issues relating to internal security and development with the Governors, Chief Ministers and senior officials of these three States.

A Conference of Chief Ministers of North Eastern States would be held on February 1, 2005 at Guwahati. Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region would also join this Conference. At this Conference, internal security and development related matters of the North Eastern States would be reviewed by the Home Minister.

During the visit to Tripura and Mizoram, the Union Home Minister would visit some Border Out Posts and also address the jawans.

During his visit to the North East, the Union Home Minister shall interact with a cross section of the people of the States and receive delegations of NGOs, Autonomous Councils and representatives of Public Organisations and Associations.
