The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the prices of bulk drugs Parachlorometaxylenol (PCMX) and Analgin (Metamizole). The price of bulk drugs Parachlorometaxylenol (PCMX) has been revised to Rs.294/Kg. The earlier notified price of this bulk drug was also Rs.294/Kg. and hence there is no change in the notified price of this bulk drug. The price of bulk drug Analgin has been revised upward from Rs.437/Kg. to Rs.458/Kg. which works out to an increase of 4.81%.
These prices were revised vide notification in the Gazette of India Extraordinary S.O.Nos. 1428(E) and 1429 (E) dated 30 December 2004. The notifications are also available on the NPPA website www.nppaindia.nic.in.
The revised notified prices shall become effective within 15 days from the date of notification in the Official Gazette. All the manufacturers of the formulations utilizing the drug in their scheduled formulations are advised to follow the provisions of DPCO, 1995 with regard to pricing of the derivative formulations.
