contributions to pm’s national relief fund cross rs 440 crore

Generous contributions from across the country are continuing to pour into the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The donations being received for the PMNRF are unprecedented with the total receipts by cheque or draft crossing Rs 440 crore. The recent contributions range from Rs 31, 000 collected by the school children of Modern School, Lucknow, to Rs 10 crore, or more contributed by some state governments and public sector organisations.

The receipts for the PMNRF at the PMO so far (eve 10th Jan 2005) is to the tune of Rs. 441. 85 crore. The momentum of the contributions has been maintained with today’s receipts totalling rupees 39.50 crore. Among the contributors were the Jharkhand government - Rs 10 crore, Nuclear Power Corporation of India - Rs 5 crore, IDBI Rs 5 crore, The Agha Khan Foundation – Rs 2.25 crore, Indian Bank Rs 2 crore, Ballarpur Industries, Crompton Greaves, Hero Honda and the staff of Indian Bank Rs one crore each. The contributions are also being received directly at bank branches, and online.

The online contributions so far is Rs 1.74 crores.
