The Expenditure Finance Committee of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting met today to discuss the plan scheme for the setting up of National Media Centre at New Delhi. The meeting Chaired by Shri Navin Chawla, Secretary (I&B), approved the outlay of Rs. 35 crore for the project. The Committee also approved the selection of NBCC as builder for the proposed building. The Committee suggested that the designers for the building, Mr. Hafiz Contractor, may be asked to submit 3-4 different building design models out of which, the Committee could finalize one. Secretary (I&B) emphasized that the project should be started as early as possible and completed within the sanctioned outlay, without allowing any overruns.
The Committee was informed that a maximum of 8000 sq meters of FAR area could be available for the building on the plot of land measuring 1.96 acres.
