The Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) has been recognised as the National Lab for evaluation and certification of plastic products produced in the country. Plastics Testing Centres of CIPET are well equipped with all modern plastic testing facilities, which are being utilised, effectively by the plastics and allied industry. Bureau of Indian Standards and its Regional Offices are constantly interacting with CIPET Centres for the formulation of various national and international standards of plastics.
All India Council for Technical Evaluation (AICTE) has approved M.Tech Programme in Plastics Engineering and Technology by CIPET. CIPET has been conducting long-term courses and awarding diploma, Post Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma in various disciplines of plastic engineering and technology. The CIPET was established in 1968 as an autonomous organization under the administrative control of the Department of Chemicals and Petro-Chemicals. The basic objects of the CIPET is to train the people in various disciplines of plastics such as mould-making, mould-designing, testing and characterisation of plastics, plastic processing etc. for the plastic industry.
