Government has released 12 lakh tonnes of sugar as quota of indigenous freesale for the month of February, 2005. With a levy quota of 2.16 lakh tonnes already released for the same month, the total availability of sugar for indigenous consumption would be 14.16 lakh tonnes .
The free sale quotas are meant for internal consumption only and with enough stocks in hand, the Government would not hesitate in releasing further quantities of sugar in case requirement so dictates.
