With his performance he won the acclaim of cine-goers as well as cinema critics. He gave newer dimensions to the negative roles in the Indian film industry and elevated the villainous roles to the status of a star. He was equally superb in comic roles. The range and versatility of his acting prowess was immense, which got established with the worldwide recognition he received for the portrayal of varied roles in the 200 odd films he acted in. In his demise, the Indian film industry has suffered an irreparable loss.”
