‘incredible india’ website to showcase indian tourism

Smt. Renuka Chowdhury, Minister of State for Tourism today launched www.incredibleindia.org, the revamped website of Tourism Ministry showcasing all that is striking about India- the colours, the diversity, the richness of culture, and uniqueness of destinations.

Launching the site, the Minister said the Government is taking various steps to promote tourism which include a global campaign to further popularize Indian destinations, social awareness campaign to create more friendly environment for in- bound tourists. Beside this, several plans to upgrade infrastructure like better linkages to all prominent tourism destinations through road and air, way-side tourism facilities for tourists, creation of berthing place for cruise and new tourism trains are in pipeline, she said.

The site not only provides minor details about travel and tourism but also gives history, geography, and lifestyle of a particular region. A traveller looking for, say, an Adventure trip or a Hill station can get a one-touch access to all the information he needs.The content also cover such niche topics as Heritage Trains, Palaces, Forts, spirituality and lifestyle- which will be very useful for the inquisitive traveler. The site retains links to vernacular content for Spanish, French and German language versions.

A virtual helpdesk with information on Embassies, Baggage, currencies and Customs rules, Visa and Permit information for all States along with a Tool Kit section with currency, Festival calendar, maps, phone codes- make the site both interactive and informative.

The site provides information on flight schedules, book tickets online and can perform a Hotel and restaurants search by cities. The site also has details of authorised tourism and Travel agents and tour operators. One can have the answers to his queries also on the site by authorised travel agents.
