Indian Railways have initiated many policy changes in freight and passenger services to meet the requirements of its users.
While continuing the process of reforms, the modernization of the railways, replacement and renewal of assets, particularly, the track renewal and safety of passengers are the thrust areas.
Other priority areas include cleanliness of coaches and railway premises, especially the stations and improvement in passenger amenities. Another thrust areas are control over expenditure and stepping up of measures to prevent leakages of revenues.
