Phase-I of Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) and the extension of Kolkata Metro Railway from Tolleyganj to Garia are progressing satisfactorily.
The extension of Kolkata Circular Railway from Princepghat to Majerhat and Dum Dum to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is expected to be completed during the current financial year 2004-2005.
The entire section of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) Phase-II from Tirumalai to Velachery will be operational fully by April 2005.
The conversion of Metre Gauge lines of the suburban system between Chennai (Egmore) and Tambaram to Broad Gauge are expected to be completed by March 2005.
The outlay on metropolitan transport projects in 2004-2005 has been kept at Rs. 385 crores.
