The Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has said that any game, including cricket inculcates discipline and it was necessary that we should be disciplined in our public life. Such discipline would go a long way in cleansing politics and administration. Releasing a book ‘World Cricket and India’, the Vice President said that the sportsman spirit should be developed and promoted in every field of social and public life.

Shri Shekhawat said that Cricket is being played even in remote and rural areas. Therefore, it is the responsibility of BCCI and other cricket administration bodies to provide proper facilities in schools and colleges of such areas. He said that there is a lot of talent in rural areas that needs to be nurtured and developed, not only in the field of cricket but in other sports also. Since the cricket organizations are resource-rich, they should come forward for building infrastructure and training facilities for other sports also. He gave the example of Limba Ram who was picked up from the tribal areas of Rajasthan and earned accolades in archery at international level.

The book is written by former cricketer Shri Surya Prakash Chaturvedi and published by National Book Trust. Noted cricketer and cricket administrator, Shri Raj Singh Dungarpur and prominent journalist Shri Prabhas Joshi also spoke on the occasion.
