baglihar project to get adequate funds

The government would provide special plan assistance to Jammu and Kashmir under a recently-approved Reconstruction Plan, in addition to the normal State Plan. This was announced by Shri P. Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister, while announcing the Budget proposals for the year 2005-06. He added that as against the current year’s state plan of Rs.3008 crore, the size of the State plan for 2005-06 has been fixed at Rs.4200 crore.

The Finance Minister also said that Baglihar project was allocated Rs.300 crore this year and would be provided adequate funds next year too. The Udhampur – Baramulla rail line would be implemented as a project of national importance, he informed.
