smt. rajni patil appointed new chairperson for central social welfare board

Government has appointed Smt. Rajni Patil, Ex Member of Parliament as the new Chairperson of the Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB). Smt. Patil was elected to 11th Lok Sabha from Beed Parliamentary Constituency of Maharashtra. Born on 5th December 1958, in a family of freedom fighters, her grandfather Late Shri Hutatma Vishnu Ganesh Pingle a founder member of ‘Gadar Movement’ who was hanged at Lahore in 1915 by the British Government. Wife of Shri Ashok Patil, Ex Minister of Maharashtra, Smt. Rajni Patil has been actively engaged in many social activities especially issues related to women and children. She has been associated with NGOs working for rural women’s self-help groups and education of rural children especially girls.

She was also founder Secretary of Mauli Vidyapeeth, Jaij, District Beed an organisation working for rural children. Smt. Patil was also member of Senate, Pune University from 1979 to 1980.

Smt. Patil was a member of parliamentary committees of External Affairs and Finance from 1996-98. She was President of Maharashtra Pradesh Mahila Congress since 1998.

Her appointment has been made for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders.
