Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF) produced 22.32 lakh MT of fertilizers and 1.16 lakh MT of industrial products during 2003-04. Earlier the Company had produced 21.10 LMT fertilizers and 1.16 LMT industrial products in the year 2002-03. The total sales of fertilizers during 2003-04 have been 24.15 LMT as compared to 22.53 LMT during the previous year. During the year 2003-04, the Company earned a net profit (after tax) of Rs.167.79 crore against a net loss (after tax) of Rs. 48.07 crore during 2002-03.
RCF plays an important role in promoting proper usage of fertilizers for which around 54 Farmer Service Centres have been established. They are providing services such as soil sample collection, arranging farmers meeting, film shows, and exhibitions and providing general guidance in the field of farming. During the year under review (2003-04), the company declared highest ever dividend of 17 per cent. During the previous year, the Company had not paid any dividend.
RCF was incorporated on the 6th March 1978 on reorganisation of the Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited. The Company has two operating units located in the State of Maharashtra, one each at Trombay and Thal. As against the authorised capital of Rs.800 crore, the paid up capital of the company was Rs. 551.69 crore as on 31.3.2004.
