The Ministry of Railways has directed the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala to step up production of the German technology coaches to provide all Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains with these coaches during the next five years.
These coaches will have better quality of steel, other modern materials for the interiors and incorporate state-of-the art features like modular control discharge toilets, large size windows, wheel slide protection device and longer length of coaches for increased seating capacity.
These coaches have a speed potential of 160 kilometre per hour. Such measures would ensure running of trains at higher speed with enhanced comfort and convenience to passengers.
