performance of railway production units

All the six Railway Production Units performed well during the three quarters of the current financial year ending December, 2004 with three of them exceeding the target and one just meeting it.

The Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, rolled out 762 coaches against the target of 754, the Rail Wheel Factory (RWF), Bangalore, 84856 wheels against the target of 84669 and 40959 axles against the target of 40489 and the Diesel Modernisation Works (DMW), Patiala, rebuilt 55 diesel locomotives against the target of 54. The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) just met the target by producing 43 electric locomotives.

The Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi, and the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, fell short of the target. The DLW produced 88 diesel locomotives against the target of 90 and the RCF 817 coaches against the target of 819.

During December, 2004, the number of wagons produced was 2150.5 against the target of 1700, exceeding it by 450.5 wagons.
