northern coalfields’ contribution for tsunami victims

The Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of the Coal India Limited (CIL), has contributed a sum of Rs.60 lakhs to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for relief and rehabilitation of the victims of the 26th December, 2004 Tsunami. The amount is equivalent of one day salary of the total workforce of the NCL. A cheque to this effect was presented by the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Company, Shri V.K. Singh to the Coal Secretary, Shri P.C. Parakh, here today.

The amount of Rs. 60 lakhs is over and above the Rs. 10 crores already contributed by the holding company, CIL, to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the Tsunami victims.
