Shri C.R. Pradhan, Director, Projects and Technical has been appointed acting Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) pending the appointment of a regular fulltime CMD. Shri Pradhan took over from Shri G. Upadhyaya, Director, P&A, who was holding the post till his retirement on January 31, 2005.
The Union Minister of Mines, Shri Sis Ram Ola has stated that NALCO is a premier PSU of the Ministry of Mines and the Government has approved its second phase expansion at a cost of Rs.4,091 crore for which the work has already been started. So, the Minister has initiated action to fill up all top posts of NALCO very quickly. The Minister is happy with the achievements of NALCO since its inception. During 2003-04, he said, all the segments of operation achieved the highest ever production. The company has been paying dividend to the Government regularly.
