The Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram, has announced an allocation of Rs. 630 crore for the National Horticulture Mission in the Budget proposal for 2005-06. The Mission would ensure an end-to-end approach having backward and forward linkages covering research, production, post-harvest management, processing and marketing under one umbrella, in an integrated manner.
Shri Chidambaram assured that more funds would be provided as the Mission gathers pace.
