In an attempt to revive the manufacturing sector especially small and medium enterprises, the Government has planned to launch the Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme. The aim of this Programme is to enable Indian manufacturing to face competitive pressures and to raise manufacturing to global standards. The details of the Scheme will be worked out by the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council in consultation with the industry. Work in this direction has already been initiated by the Council and the Investment Commission.
