Shri Singh expressed the government’s desire to strengthen relationship with Bhutan in all spheres of education. He said that the government is ready to work out a detailed plan of action to expand cooperation in education in areas such as technical and medical. He also suggested that the Royal University of Bhutan and other colleges could develop linkages with Indian Universities and Institutions. Referring to the request by Mr. Gyamtsho for extension of faculty of IITs and NITs in Bhutan, Shri Singh said that the government will play a positive role if these institutions have no problems in providing support. Shri Singh said that the government will also support the effort of the National University of Bhutan to become a member of the Association of Indian Universities.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Gyamtsho expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its generous help in providing assistance to develop educational institutions in his country and also providing substantial number of scholarships to Bhutanese students to pursue their studies in various colleges and universities in India.
