Home Minister Shri Shivraj Patil has exhorted Delhi Police to go hi-tech to tackle the new age crimes. While speaking at the raising day function of Delhi Police here today, Shri Patil appreciated the Jipnet system adopted by Delhi Police, which makes it possible to exchange prompt information with the police forces of other states. He asked the police personnel to maintain humane values along with integrity while implementing their duties. Shri Manik Rao Gavit and Shri R. Regupathy, Union Ministers of State for Home Affairs, Shri B. L. Joshi, Lt. Governor of Delhi, Smt. Shiela Dikshit, Chief Minister of Delhi, Union Home Secretary Shri Dhirendra Singh and Dr. K. K. Paul, Delhi Police Commissioner were present at the occasion along with senior police officials.
Shri Patil lauded the idea of Community Policing implemented by Delhi Police and said that every police personnel must strive towards achieving the object of Citizens First. He underlined the need to maintain cordial relationship between police and common man. At the same time, police and common man should come together in a constructive manner so as to achieve long-term results, Shri Patil said. The Home Minister assured full cooperation of his Ministry in tackling the problem of housing being faced by Delhi Police.
While talking about terrorism as a problem being faced by almost all countries, Shri Patil said that there could be no solution of any problem through violence. The country is fully prepared to maintain its integrity and sovereignty, he averred. The Home Minister congratulated the officials who won police medal and asked all policemen to keep working towards securing the well being of common man.
