The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss met the visiting US Senator and former First Lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton, here today and hosted a reception in her honour. Dr. Ramadoss highlighted the political support cutting across all Party lines in tackling the HIV/AIDS problem in the country, including the active support from the Prime Minister.
Shri P. Hota, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, who was also present on the occasion, mentioned about the recent increased budgetary allocation for HIV/AIDS control and integrated IEC approach within the Ministry. Senator Clinton shared the experience of the US in tackling the stigma and discrimination issues. She also praised the comprehensive approach of India to combat the HIV/AIDS problem.
