In Rajasthan, gauge conversion works of jmer—Chittaurgarh—Udaipur, Agra Fort—Bandikui and Kolayat—Phalodi new line have been taken up at an anticipated cost of Rs. 455.18 crores, Rs. 175.03 crores and Rs. 163.93 crores respectively. The works are in full swing.

For Ajmer—Chittaurgarh—Udaipur gauge conversion work, Rs. 41.55 crores has been provided in 2004-2005. Till March 2004, Rs. 88 crores has been spent on the project. In the first phase, gauge conversion of Chittaurgarh—Udaipur has been taken up and is targeted for completion in the current financial year 2004-2005. The work of Ajmer—Chittaurgarh section has also been taken up wherein earthwork and major and minor bridges are in progress. Ajmer—Chittaurgarh is expected to be completed during 2006-2007.

Gauge conversion of Bandikui—Bharatpur has been completed and opened for traffic. The work of gauge conversion of Bharatpur—Agra Fort (Bandikui-Agra Fort) is targeted for completion during 2004-2005. Till March 2004, Rs. 113.78 crores has been incurred on this project. In the current financial year 2004-2005, Rs. 40 crores has been allocted for the project.

For Kolayat—Phalodi new line, earthwork, ballast supply and construction of bridges are in progress. This project is being funded by the Ministry of Defence and is targeted for completion during 2005-2006. Till March 2004, Rs. 15.55 crores has been incurred. In the current financial year 2004-2005, Rs. 81 crores has been provided.
